Holgate House

Family run business. On the cheap. Hazeldine 12 Step is hard. Too hard. After 9 months I knew of only 3 people who’d gone past Step 4. Jason had a house in Colne where the residents paid off previous debts. I know. I paid it. Mushrooms on the wall. Leaks from the bathroom onto electric sockets. Damp in bedrooms. The main bedroom wall was black. I know. I lived in it. Everything done on the cheap. Everything. I’d love to see if Jason remembers the 300 quid from my rent that I’m still owed back. Worse was Rachel’s house, the admin person and driver. We couldn’t even get a TV signal for months. These people are cheap. Horrific that they’re all related and rip off the poor user with aftercare. Check it out. Colne council paying nearly 300 a week when I was there per person to live in a terrible house with no one there to help. Imagine, 900 a week per house that’s worth 40k. Every year in 2012 Jason and his relative Rachel had a house bought for them by Colne council. Crazy. Crazy, shocking and totally disgusting. Out of the 12 people I lived with in Daycare only 3 including me are still alive. Poor service. Poor help. Poor recovery. Shame on you Holgate.

I entered Holgate House in Feb 2019, knowing nothing about recovery, and not even sure I was ready to admit that I was an addict. As soon as I arrived and met the other peers and staff I knew this was the place I was meant to be, finally feeling like I belonged. The staff are amazing, they love you till you can love yourself again, they totally understand how you are feeling and never judge you for your life choices and traumas. I’d had counselling in the past, but was never able to be totally honest, it was easy to get totally honest there, my counsellor knew exactly how to help me open up. At the end of my residential treatment I was able to continue my recovery journey in one of their recovery houses and attending their daycare centre, it was the perfect stepping stone back into life. I am now 19 months clear and sober, I have a lovely new home, started studying again and volunteering in services. I cannot thank Holgate House and their staff enough for the love and support they gave me, forever grateful

I went to view the rehab 3 weeks ago and as I’m very empathetic and can feel what a place is like I got very good vibes.The staff were great very friendly residents the accommodation was very nice clean had bags of character. There is a resident deer who comes to feed off your hand.Ive been to rehab before so dont really take on others opinion when they say it’s terrible.Its what you make of it a place to battle your demons.

I have just spent the last seven months at holgate house ? its been an emotional journey getting to know myself and learning to love the person I’ve become, not only myself but to love others too. I am so grateful to all the staff councillors and my peers past and present for having faith in me and believing in me when I didn’t and also for never given up on me.. I have never experienced so much love an laughter under one roof.. UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.. I JUST ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT Paula B XX
