I stayed in Parkland Place just over nine months ago for a duration of two weeks i was pretty ill when i came in and suffering from severe depression at the time after years of progressive drinking , what started out as normal drinking many years ago turned to drinking up to a litre of vodka a day.
My self esteem was nil and i had almost given up on life, this was my last and only hope to turn my life around. On entering pp i was made to feel so welcome and at home and introduced to all the staff and people like me that was seeking help.
The accommodation is like a five star hotel and is really homely the food all cooked fresh on site by the chef is just superb and i can be hard to please sometimes.
My next two weeks were the most productive of my whole life the lessons we learner in life skills and how to understand ourselves were amazing and really good fun too we laughed on most days and that really lightened my mood, all the staff were out of this world and put all their heart and soul in to making this work for us all.
I was dreading the group sessions talking about myself with strangers but i loved it you could not shut me up.
All the staff was fantastic but Stuart was a huge inspiration to me and still is as he is my outpatient key worker.
I made some good friends in pp and we all keep in touch on a whats app group.
I have been free from drink for over nine months now and don’t miss it and will never drink again, i am nearly sixty years old and i am happier than i have ever been in my life through not drinking and life skills that i learned in pp.
If you need help don’t hesitate book yourself in and you will never look back, don’t forget you have to put the work in too it’s a two way street.
I hope you all well on your journey to a better life.
